COHVCO requests BLM reopen all routes in Utah efforts

Scott Jones | Published on 6/10/2026
The Organizations and our members have been heavily involved in the decades of management efforts that have resulted in the current situation. These comments are submitted in conjunction with the route and site-specific comments submitted by Ride with Respect et at. While the Organizations support reopening of the proposed routes, we also assert the need for a more complete review of the underlying planning efforts to ensure the plan complies with all legal planning requirements, which have significantly changed over the last several years. Failing to undertake this review would allow concepts of “minimizing impacts from access” and statutory requirements to provide “adequate roads and adequate trails for multiple use” to be used interchangeably. These are separate and distinct planning requirements and the minimization requirements were recently removed.
